Media reports citing police sources said Muskan and Sahil were refusing to eat in an attempt to obtain narcotics.
Meerut Murder: Fresh details have emerged in the murder case of merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput. As per police sources, her wife Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla are addicted to drugs and look agitated when not getting narcotics in jail.
Efforts are underway to wean them off their addiction using medication, with their behaviour reportedly returning to normal gradually, according to Superintendent Chaudhary Charan Singh.
Some media reports citing police sources said Muskan and Sahil were refusing to eat in an attempt to obtain narcotics. Sahil reportedly caused a ruckus demanding drugs and showed “extreme restlessness" due to the lack of marijuana. Muskan also asked for "morphine injections".
There are reports that Sahil was also involved in betting activities. It is alleged that Muskan provided Sahil with money to place bets. Sources claim that the funds Saurabh sent to Muskan for household expenses were instead used by both Muskan and Sahil for betting. Meerut police are also on the lookout for the bookie from whom Sahil placed his bets.
Post-Mortem Report Uncovers Critical Details
Significant findings have also emerged from the post-mortem report of Saurabh’s body. SP City Ayush Vikram Singh stated that Saurabh had three wounds on his chest, with additional knife marks noted on his wrist and neck. The body, which was 14 days old, had decomposed, complicating the investigation.
Saurabh was allegedly murdered by his wife and Sahil on March 4. The body had been cut up and hidden in a drum, covering it with cement.
Muskan's father took her to the police station and urged her to tell the truth. This is when Muskan confessed to committing the crime.
