According to initial reports, an estimated 50 to 100 acres of greenery have been lost to the fire at Mahatma Gandhi University in Nalgonda district.

A massive fire broke out at Mahatma Gandhi University in Nalgonda district headquarters around 6:00 PM, causing extensive damage to surrounding vegetation.

Firefighters swiftly responded to the incident and are working to contain the blaze. According to initial reports, an estimated 50 to 100 acres of greenery have been lost to the fire. The cause of the fire remains unknown and authorities are assessing the extent of the damage.

 

 

Mahatma Gandhi University

Mahatma Gandhi University, situated in Nalgonda, 90 km from Hyderabad, was established to fulfill the Andhra Pradesh government's vision of promoting access, equity, and inclusivity in higher education.

The university was later renamed Mahatma Gandhi University through the state government's amendment under Act 4 of 1991.

In the 2010-11 academic year, its headquarters were located in Nalgonda town, while a permanent campus is being developed on 240 acres along the Nalgonda-Narketpally state highway at Anneparthy, 7 km away.
