Army Camp Fired Upon By Terrorists In Jammu's Kathua
In a separate incident, on January 25, terrorists reportedly fired upon an Army camp late on Friday night in Bhatodi village of Billawar in Kathua district. The army also retaliated in kind. There was no news of any casualty. The area was cordoned off and an intense search operation was launched.
The attack came amid a security beef-up in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the Republic Day Celebrations on Sunday.
Man Shot Dead In Firing Incident In Jammu's Jewel Chowk
A man was shot in an alleged firing incident in the Jewel Chowk area of Jammu, a police official confirmed on Tuesday (January 21). Authorities have formed a special team to track down the suspect, according to a report by news agency ANI.
Regarding the firing incident, Jammu Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Anand Jain told reporters, "In this incident, a person named Sumit Jandial has been shot. He was attacked by his rival gang. This is not a terrorist case... investigation of the case is ongoing. The victim has died and we have formed the team, soon the culprit will be nabbed."
Following the incident, Jammu and Kashmir Police swiftly reached the scene to carry out further inquiries.
