As KKR and RCB gear up for the IPL 2025 season opener at the Eden Gardens Stadium, here's a look at the probable playing 11s for both the teams.

KKR vs RCB: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the opening match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on March 22 (Saturday). Defending champions KKR will be led by Ajinkya Rahane while the star-studded RCB lineup will be led by the newly-appointed captain Rajat Patidar.

KKR will head into the opening match as the defending champions, having clinched the IPL 2024 title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final. With three titles to their name, KKR are the third most successful team in IPL history. On the other hand, RCB are still chasing their elusive maiden title. They made it to the Eliminator in IPL 2024 but were knocked out by Rajasthan Royals (RR) and will be eager to end their title drought this season.

KKR will be led by Ajinkya Rahane as the franchise has moved on from Shreyas Iyer. They have also let go of Mitchell Starc and Phil Salt but retained most of their core squad, along with making some smart additions. After a dominant performance with both bat and ball last season, KKR will be under the spotlight as they chase back-to-back IPL titles.

RCB, meanwhile, have overhauled their squad once again, retaining only three players from the previous season. Rajat Patidar takes over the captaincy and the team has added the likes of Liam Livingstone, Phil Salt and Jacob Bethell. Virat Kohli is set to open the innings with Salt, followed by Patidar. RCB also roped in domestic stars like Jitesh Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Krunal Pandya in the auction.
