Superintendent of Police (City) Ayush Vikram Singh said Muskan inflicted the wounds, severing Rajput’s neck and cutting his palms. The body was then divided into four parts to fit inside the drum.
The post-mortem report of former merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput has exposed the horrific brutality of his murder in which the body was dismembered reportedly by his wife Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla.
The report revealed that Rajput's head was severed, his hands were cut off at the wrist and his legs were bent backward, suggesting an attempt to fit the body in a drum. The cause of death was identified as shock and excessive bleeding, as per the reported by PTI.
According to police, Rajput was drugged and then fatally stabbed on March 4, after which his body was dismembered and sealed in a cement-filled drum. Meanwhile, Muskan and Sahil misled his family by sending messages from his phone while vacationing in Himachal Pradesh. The crime came to light on March 18, leading to their arrest.
Doctors who conducted the post-mortem stated Rajput had been stabbed three times in the heart with extreme force. "The blows from the sharp long knife pierced deep inside the heart," one of the doctors reported.
Superintendent of Police (City) Ayush Vikram Singh stated that Muskan inflicted the wounds, severing Rajput’s neck and cutting his palms. The body was then divided into four parts to fit inside the drum, as per the medical team’s report, which also detailed the disturbing efforts made to hide the crime.
"It was put in the drum and then filled with dust and cement. The body solidified in the cement and did not rot due to lack of air. The smell was not extremely foul," a member of the post-mortem team revealed. It was needed to cut open and the hardened cement painstakingly removed to retrieve the body in the drum.
Muskan and Saurabh Rajput married in 2016 despite opposition from his family, following a relationship, and had a six-year-old daughter. According to the police, Muskan and Sahil had known each other since school and reconnected through a WhatsApp group in 2019.
Rajput’s family alleged that Muskan’s behavior had been troubling from the start, claiming she neglected household responsibilities and was involved in drug use.
Meerut Murder: Muskan, Her Lover ‘Didn’t Allow’ Hotel Room Cleaning In Kasol, Staff Says
Following the murder, both the accused travelled to Himachal Pradesh and stayed in Kasol for six days after committing the gruesome act in order to cover their tracks, before returning to Meerut on March 17.
On March 10, they checked into a hotel in Kasol, posing as husband and wife, and stayed until March 16, accompanied by their driver, said hotel operator Aman Kumar.
Unlike most tourists who explore the area, the couple remained inside their room (203) almost all day, only venturing out once daily in their car—an unusual pattern, Kumar noted.
They avoided social interactions, refused housekeeping services, and kept conversations with hotel staff minimal. During checkout, they claimed to have come from Manali and were heading back to Uttar Pradesh, Kumar added.
