Tension Grips Lucknow's Kakori After 2 Students Found Dead With Throats Slit

Two men were found dead outside Pankheda village in Kakori with their throats slit, sparking tensions as the local residents were outraged over the men's death and the police's delayed action.

Tension gripped a village in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh after two men were found dead with their throats slit. Police were informed at around 10:15 PM on Friday that two bodies were spotted outside Pankheda village in Kakori. 

The deceased, identified as Manoj (25) and Rohit (26), were residents of the Pankheda village. Their throats were slit with some sharp edged weapon, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vishwajeet Srivastava said, news agency PTI reported.

This sparked tensions as the local residents were outraged over the men's death and the police's delayed action to the crime. When the police received information about the murder, senior officials reached the spot, but were met with strong resentment from the locals, Times Of India reported.

Shortly after the bodies were discovered, additional police force was deployed in the village to maintain law and order.

"We are looking into all possible angles in the case. The bodies have been sent for postmortem and a report has been registered. Investigations are underway," the DCP said.

Preliminary Probe Suggests Duo Murdered Due To Personal Enmity

Preliminary probe suggests that the victims' murder may be linked to a personal enmity. Locals told police that Manoj and Rohit were returning from a party when they were intercepted and killed by some youths who fled after committing the crime, TOI reported.

"The police have launched a detailed probe, questioning locals and searching for possible suspects involved in the crime," DCP Shrivastava said.

According to the report, relatives of the victims said that the duo had left home around 6:30 PM on Friday, but their families were unaware of their whereabouts until late at night. "We were informed about the incident when a journalist called us," a relative said.

The two men were preparing for competitive exams. While Manoj was pursuing his ITI studies, Rohit had appeared for a railway examination. Manoj's father is a farmer and he has a younger brother as well. Rohit's father is in the home guard.

Their family members have ruled out altercations or any external animosity. However,they mentioned ongoing disagreements in the extended family.
