India faces a severe heatwave in the northern, central, and western regions, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. The IMD has issued heatwave alerts and alerted farmers to protect crops.
The unforgiving summer in India is going to bake many regions in North, Central and West India over the next few days. The IMD has sounded the alarms and issued heatwave alerts for multiple states. However, the Northeast and isolated places in eastern India are likely to get heavy rainfall or thunderstorms.

The latest warning by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) read: "Heatwave to Severe heatwave conditions at most places over west, at many places over east Rajasthan and at a few places over Punjab, Haryana. Heatwave conditions at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, west Uttar Pradesh. Warm night at many places over west Rajasthan and isolated places over Punjab, Haryana and east Rajasthan."

Farmers in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Gujarat have been asked to make adequate arrangements to irrigate their crops and protect them from the heatwave.
Meteorologist Naresh Kumar said, "A red alert has been issued for Gujarat and Rajasthan. In Delhi-NCR, heatwave conditions will persist for the next two days, after which temperatures are expected to drop due to a western disturbance."

Heatwave In Delhi
In a weather bulletin on Tuesday afternoon, the IMD warned that the maximum temperature in Delhi could reach 39℃-41℃. A yellow alert has been issued for Delhi for April 8 and 9. The minimum temperature in Delhi on Tuesday was recorded at 22.4℃ and it could go up to 24℃ on Wednesday.
The maximum temperature could go down by a degree or two in the next four days but is likely to go up to 41℃ again on April 13.
Heatwave In Rajasthan
The IMD bulletin said that heatwave conditions were very likely at multiple places over West Rajasthan on April 8 and 9, with severe heatwave conditions in isolated pockets. "Heat wave conditions likely at isolated to some pockets over Saurashtra & Kutch, East Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh & Delhi on 08th & 09th April with severe heat wave conditions at isolated pockets," the warning read.
The maximum temperature was recorded in Barmer 45.6℃ in Western Rajasthan and the minimum temperature was 18.4℃ in Anta Baran.
Maharashtra Sweats In Intense Heat
Maharashtra, too, is reeling under a heatwave. According to an IMD bulletin issued on Tuesday, a rise in the maximum temperature by 1-2 degrees will be seen during the next 2-3 days and then a gradual fall is likely in the Konkan-Goa region.
Hot and humid conditions are likely over Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri on April 9.
IMD scientist Praveen Kumar said, "Some pockets of Vidarbha could experience a heatwave tomorrow and in the days after that. On 10 and 11 April, there will be chances of light rainfall."

In Madhya Maharashtra, Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar will be sweating under hot and humid conditions on Wednesday, whereas Marathwada's Aurangabad and Jalna will feel most of the heat's impact on Wednesday.
Orange alerts have been issued for isolated places in Maharashtra and a yellow alert has been issued for the entire state for April 9 and 10.

Northeast, Bihar Likely To Get Rain
Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Assam & Meghalaya on April 9 and 10 and Arunachal Pradesh on April 10. Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over east and Northeast India and south peninsular India.
The Agromet weather alert warned farmers in Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya to take measures to protect their crops from hailstorms and drain excess rainwater.
